Cuban-American singer, Camilla Cabello, and Shawn Mendes are giving the Shawnmilla shippers a lot of special moments as the lovebirds spend time together during the pandemic in Cabello’s hometown in Miami. The “Liar” singer took to her Instagram on Saturday to talk about how much Mendes means to her. She also spoke about how much she has learned about love from him, MSN writes.
“Pictures do not capture the messiness of my beliefs, and thoughts about life and myself, but it is there,” the musician wrote. “But nothing surpasses the FORCE that love is. It gives you the strength, patience, and resilience to be more courageous, wiser, and better than you were before it.”
The duo who started dating on Independence Day last year, met in 2014 when Mendes and the Fifth Harmony, Cabello’s old group were opening up for Austin Mahone’s tour. Since that time they have been pretty close and there were lots of rumors that they were dating until Mendes confirmed the relationship towards the end of 2019.
They have been quite close since they met and have had lovely moments together urging fans to request that they start dating already before they finally did. In 2015 on the CBS show “The Late Show with James Corden” Mendes told Corden that he tried to ask her out as a response to a question about the status of their relationship. Mendes explained then that Cabello was “swerving” his advances, People reports.
On the show, Cabello also accused Mendes, playfully, of “friend-zoning” her and calling her “a kid” when Corden explained it was difficult to believe that the two “haven’t made out yet”. The two later released a song “I Know What You Did Last Summer” together in 2017 and “Señorita” a steamy single in June 2019, a month before their romance finally started on July 4th, a few weeks after Cabello broke up with her ex-boyfriend Matthew Hussey.
“It is a part of our instincts as humans to fall in love even when we try to stubbornly avoid it,” Cabello continued in her post. “When we are in love, we choose that person over and over again to share all the ugly and messy stuff with, something that is way more beautiful and amazing than trying to hold up a false image of perfection.”
Cabello ended the post by stating that she would rather be vulnerable on social media than go for the empty perfection people try very hard to portray. She also made a toast to “messiness”, “uneasiness” and the “ever strong force called love.”
