Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, predicted that COVID-19 vaccines will begin to roll out at a much faster pace in the United States. The physician and immunologist made the statement on Monday while addressing reporters, noting that President Joe Biden and his team have stipulated their plans to hasten the inoculation process.

“We know about the challenges that can disturb the process and the administration of President Joe Biden, as you know, has shown us all that he is taking the issue of vaccination very seriously,” Fauci said on Monday.

The physician also added that the next step is to tackle the challenges and ensure that the procedure is hastened so that the country can meet its vaccination goal early. He said complaining about the challenges without thinking up ways of fixing them will only amount to a waste of time and the infections will keep spreading.

So far, the CDC said over 32 million doses of the Pfizer and Moderna coronavirus vaccines have been given in the United States, adding that about 1.3 million doses have been injected daily for the past week. The greatly improved rate of vaccination will now face the issue of the mutated strains of the infection that has been discovered in different states, necessitating that the process becomes even faster than it is currently, Yahoo reports.

The Biden administration has ordered 200 million more doses of the coronavirus vaccines; this and other measures are directed towards increasing the number of US residents that are vaccinated. The 200 million doses, when added to what was earlier purchased, will serve 300 million Americans, a more than reasonable percentage of the country’s population. Biden projected that the country will reach the 300 million vaccination threshold in about six months.

The department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense is also considering ways by which US troops can be deployed to help speed up the process. While speaking with reporters on Monday, Fauci cited this step as one of the measures that the administration is taking towards speeding up the process.

Fauci stated that while authorities are working towards ensuring that all Americans are protected against the infection, residents should ensure that they follow all safety rules to the latter, adding that the pandemic can only be a thing of the past if everyone contributes their quota.
